Lakema Bell-Johnson

Entrepreneur, actress, dancer, poet, singer, mom and motivational speaker

Lakema Bell-Johnson, is an African Centered Thought Artist, Change Agent, Community Activist, African Dancer and Instructor, Choreographer, Event and Grant Manager, Motivator, Coach, Wife of 23 years and Mother of 4.

 

She is the CEO of the Skin I’m In LLC an African Centered organization that teaches self and body confidence using African Dance, culturally curated experiences, facilitation and advances as the mechanisms of overstanding and knowing self.

Lakema’s younger brother, Kareem died in 2016 due to complications of the mental illness, Schizophrenia. Kareem lived with this illness for 16 years. During that time, Lakema witnessed and experienced systematic racism against Kareem while assisting her mother and brother in navigating the dominate culture system infrastructures. Through several introspective moments,  Lakema has developed a passion for Race, Equity, and Social Justice around black health specifically mental wellness and securing the future for upcoming generations.
